Painted Rocks

Jesus is the rock of my foundation….

….the rocks will cry out…

And they remembered that God was their rock…

I will say to God my rock…

…go to the mountain of the LORD, to the Rock of Israel.

For who is God, besides the LORD? And who is a rock, besides our God?

On God my salvation and my glory rest; The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God.

On and on the Bible refers to God as our “Rock.” Rock is a natural substance of which we consider valuable for many reasons: we can build with it; we build upon it; we lean on it; and we desire to be as strong as it.

My family has been painting rocks as kind of a time-killing, family oriented, hobby that we could all do together. It’s been going on for on and off a couple of years now. So, this new phenomenon of hiding painted rocks for others to find and re-hide has excited us.

Because we already had a few, along with some that just needed to be finished, we are already hiding these rocks. If you keep up with my blog, you’re most likely be able to keep up with the towns that we have visited or are going to visit. If you find one of our rocks, you will know it because it will say “The Headcase Christian” on the back. Take a picture and send it to me and we will automatically share your picture on all of our social media.

If you are lucky enough to find five of our rocks, you will win a prize. If you are crazy lucky enough to find all of our rocks, you’ll win an amazing GRAND PRIZE! Good luck and send me a picture if you find one of ours!*

  1. These are so cute, and hiding them around is such a good idea! I wish I wasn’t in the UK so I could go hunting for them!

  2. Kind of a cool idea. It’s kind of like geo-tracking (or something like that) where you go on line, get maps and find clues. I used to do that with my kids when they were little. They loved it.

  3. My son is always collecting rocks and stones and it drives me mad. Thank you for showing me something lovely we could do with them.

  4. This does look like such a cute idea. Not sure I could afford such an idea, for the prize stuff. Then again I don’t know that anyone would actually find them. But it is awesome.

  5. How fun is this!? My kids would love this. My church had the kids in Sunday School paint rocks about two years ago and they had to hide their rocks. It was fun and encouraging. Maybe when I go to TN next year I’ll find yours!

  6. This is a really fun idea! I think my boys would have a blast doing something like this. And I love that you have been “hiding” them as you travel. It would be so cool to find one!

  7. Fun! Ever been to Seattle, WA? I see painted rocks all the time..let me know if I should be checking their undersides! My daughters LOVE painting rocks. My stepmom, who passed of cancer, used to paint rocks beautifully, so this art form holds a special place in my heart too

  8. I am a fellow rock painter too! We go to the creek and pick out a rock or boulder to commemorate the summer. I love the idea of finding other people’s rocks!
